When I woke one morning recently, the Lord brought to my mind the story of Edwin Robinson of Falmouth, ME. In the mid 1970’s Edwin had been tractor trailer driver. An unfortunate accident left him blind and nearly deaf.
Several years ago I went to a nearby Red Cross Center to donate blood. As I was sitting there, Mr. Robinson’s niece and her son came into the center. Somehow, she started to discuss her uncle with some of the nearby folk. She explained how he was a man of God and gave Him glory for the story I’m about to explain.
After his accident, Mr. Robinson led a quiet live on his property. The year was 1980, and as it is pertinent to the story, Edwin had a pet chicken. He heard a thunderstorm approaching and, not wanting his chicken to perish, decided to collect his chicken from its free range outside the house. Edwin found his way outside and called the chicken. The chicken had learned to come to Edwin when he called it, and without exception, the chicken came to him. He reached down and picked it up just as the storm was intensifying. Edwin took cover under a nearby tree, and then heard a loud CRACK!! The next thing he remembered was that he woke up face down in the dirt. As he righted himself and made his way into his house, he noticed that things seemed different. As he moved his head, objects appeared in his eyes. He could see!! And, noises appeared louder. He could hear!!
He attributed these miracles to God having mercy on him. I recall this story from the local news when I was a teenager. It is now substantiated in many places on the internet. This is irrefutable proof of a miracle.
If God can use a lowly chicken to bring about such a miracle, how much more should He be able to use us humans to do the “greater things” that Jesus told we could/would do?
